CUBA   <page 2>
Music consisted of four basic elements of styles. Rumba is one of the original black dance forms, consisting of drumming and singing about social preoccupations and dancing. This style of music was transferred from the plantations to the slums and quickly became a collective expression for everyone. There are three main forms of Rumba, which all feature a lead singer with a chorus. The Guaguanco is a couples dance accompanied by three conga drums, the claves, and  the guagua, which is a piece of bamboo that is struck with two sticks. Yambo is another couples dance, where cajones, which are wooden boxes, substituted the congas. The Colombia is a solo male dance.
